Brigadeiro Party!

Today we went to school and the Brazilian students started on their newspaper project in Journalism. After school, Sara H hosted a Brigadeiro dance party for the Brazilian girls, their host students, and some of the girls that went to Brazil last year. We had plenty of Guarana and pizza to go around. Brigadeiro is the best chocolate Brazilian dessert. Chefs Carol C and Brenda P taught us American girls how to make it, and it turned out wonderfully! Carol C asked us to try the condensed milk, but it was weird to us American girls. We were all eager to eat it, but they made us wait until it had cooled down. While we waited, our music DJ, Sara H, put together CDs of Brazilian and American music that reminded us of our trip. We danced a lot in Sara's living room. Brenda P also showed off her rapping skills while Priscila P tried to teach us her rebolation dance moves. It was funny for the Brazilian girls to hear us Americans try to sing and dance to their music. We were all able to sing together to Taylor Swift's "Love Story." Ariane L and Margaret S brought their pictures and videos from our trip so we could look back on our fun times and show the new students what we did. We tried to skype with Daniel and some of the other students of Piedade, but they were not online. While on the computer, we exchanged photos of our friends and family via Orkut and Facebook. I had such a great time and I hope there will be many more parties like this to come!

Beijos,

  1. The pizza photo is fabulous!! I am very impressed with your culinary skills in making the Brigadeiro - perhaps you can pass along the recipe in an upcoming blog or in the newspaper that the Brazilian students are creating.

  3. The Bear Facts staff is so excited about your newspaper. We hope that you will continue to write stories for us through our newly created newspaper website: uabearfacts.com which we are also most excited about. If you go to that website now, you will see that we have posted a picture of you all when you came to our classroom in the village to begin your paper.
Keep up the excellent stories. You are doing a great job.
